Patrycja Kowańska

Residance 2024

Playwright, screenwriter, director. Graduated from the Academy of Theater Arts in Kracow with a degree in directing, specialization: theater dramaturg (2018). As a playwright, she has worked in recent years with directors in theaters in Poland and abroad. She directed "Second-hand'68" realized in the finale of the program "Strangers at Home. Around March 68" at the Polin Museum/TR Warsaw (2018). As a playwright, she combines work with text with an interest in the body and movement (among other works: "Dali", "Individual Concert" together with B. Ostrowski, since 2020 collaboration with choreograp[e W. Pelczynska and the Sisterhood practice initiative) She collaborates with the German theater collective "kainkollek]v", also as
a translator.

Participant in many workshops, including with Gob Squad at the Fes]wal Theatre Confrontations in Lublin and with Pascal Rambert and Simon Stephens at the Teatro Biennale in Venice. She is a three-time grantee of the City of Krakow (2017, 2021, 2022) and of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in the field of theater (2020). Author of a master's thesis entitled: "The movement of the playwright. An attempt to construct a toolbox of body, installation and performance dramaturgy," excerpts of which were published in the monthly magazine "Didaskalia" (no. 151- 152/2019) and AST's publication in Krakow titled: "Dramaturgy. "Dramaturgy. A Guide" (2021). Her most recent productions include "VALESKA VALESKA VALESKA VALESKA", directed by Dominika Knapik, and the author's "Refraction" at the Zbigniew Raszewski Theater Institute in Warsaw.
